On Friday, May 27, I had the privilege of attending a symposium organized by the Institute for Basque Studies at California State University, led by Professor Steve Gamboa, the institute's director.
The weekend was devoted to the Kern County Basque Festival, held at the Bakersfield Basque Center. The festival showcased a vibrant celebration of Basque culture and traditions. The impressive fronton and the beautiful surrounding land of the Basque center were truly remarkable and enviable.
We interviewed Navarrese individuals who have relocated to California, namely Francisco Ibilcieta and Mattin Etchamendi. They graciously shared their personal stories of immigration to the United States.
